Do you spend more time in your bedroom than in any other room? For most of us, the answer to this question is absolutely yes, but do you follow up the question with, “the majority of it is spent sleeping.” If you are the opposite and enjoy spending time in your bedroom lingering by the window to read a book or to watch TV from the chase lounge in the corner, why not invest more into a master bedroom? A master bedroom makeover may be just what you are looking for to take the room from good-enough-to-get-by to a soothing sanctuary for those hours spent awake.
At Majestic Construction, we love creating spaces that people will utilize the most, which is why we love master bedroom makeovers. Don’t get us wrong, we love creating a kitchen with an open concept designed for entertaining, but implementing pieces for a room where most of your home life happens is even more fulfilling for us. Here is a list of a few must-haves if you’re taking your bedroom to the next level. Remember, transforming a space into a dream room may take some time, but if you are attempting these to-do’s yourself, you must start with the basics.
Having a blank canvas will be best when beginning your dream room. Though not the most exciting color on the wheel, having beige walls is often where you will begin. The best part about this beginning stage and the color on the wall is that literally everything will go perfectly. That antique wooden drawer and accent chair work great in this room. The unfinished or neutral painted piece of furniture you purchased at a discount price now fits in. If you want to add a pop of color, do so with creative pieces and art work. Like we said before, anything goes with beige on the wall.
Bedding & Window Treatments
As for next steps, there are many different directions you can go. Temporary treatment of the room can be obtained through bedding and window treatments. Adding a new comforter or duvet cover will go a long way in the way your room looks and feels. Simple bamboo shades can add texture to a room while letting the light you want in. By adding (any) color to your window treatment with a valance topper, these budget friendly additions can be transferred to any room you may want to re-do in the near future. No longer are makeovers one and done, as tastes and preferences change over time.
The inspiration to make over any room in your home, including your master bedroom can come from any one item. If you have your favorite piece of abstract art you want to work from, do so. Have a generational piece of furniture that is near and dear to your heart, make it happen. Don’t let “the norm” stop you from creating the master bedroom of your dreams, even if you are on a budget. Make your dream a reality by creating an ultra-glamorous by adding color throughout, appropriate accessories and the necessary shine with light and mirrors around the room. Go from good-enough to exactly what you want with simple changes throughout.
